MY REVIEW
Seductive Shadows by Marni Mann is a beautifully written and emotional journey about a strong yet broken young woman named Charlie and her quest to battle her innermost demons, overcome heartbreak, and discover that not only can she truly love again but let herself be loved in return.
I read this book in less than two days – it was that good!! I found myself falling in love with Charlie – I cried with her, laughed with her, loved with her, experienced passion with her and felt her fears, desires and pain. This book touched on many dark elements of the human psyche but it also balanced them out with bright moments of love, hope, devotion and discovery. I loved the author’s vivid writing style, her colorful characters, and the way she unfolds her story – like a flower opening up its petals to the rays of the sun.
This book is not for everyone. The story is very powerful and it has some very erotic scenes. I have read many, many books in the erotica genre and I thought the scenes in this book were exquisitely and tastefully executed. The scenes allow you to see into the main character’s personality and to fully understand how she sees herself.
I did feel that the end of the book had that “rushed” feeling. I’m not exactly sure how much of that was due to how I was feeling, in reaction to what was happening towards the end of the book, or if the author intended it to be that way. The author ties up many loose ends but leaves the possibility up in the air for a Seductive Shadows sequel. I certainly would be first in line for a copy if she decides to continue Charlie’s journey.
